FAQs
Safety
Great question! Most air freshener products and scent marketing companies use fragrances that meet minimum industry standards. These industry standards are similar to drinking water standards. Generally safe, but they do allow certain levels of toxins. We think our clients deserve better. Our fragrances are produced by Symrise AG, the world's largest supplier of fragrance materials. Thier world-class perfumers and chemists design and produce fragrances designed to work in the NextScent systems. These fragrances are developed to limit or exclude any known allergen, are non-toxic, CMR free, and certified safe - far exceeding the industry standards from the EPA, IFRA, RIFM and CARB.
Candles add to the warmth & atmosphere of a home, but some candles and incense can contribute to an indoor air pollution problem by emitting particulate matter (candle soot) into the air... When burned they release carcinogenic toxins such as benzene, toluene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein and soot into the air.

Candles may be pretty to look at but they are a major cause of home fires and home fire deaths. U.S. fire departments respond to an estimated 11,640 home structure fires every year that were started by candles. These fires caused 126 deaths, 953 injuries and $438 million in direct property damage annually. On average, candles cause a home fire every hour in the United States.

The oils used in plugin air fresheners, reed diffusers and most oil burners contain alcohol to help the fragrance carry further from the device. Aerosol rooms sprays use compressed gas propellants like butane or propane and often contain ethanol as a disinfectant. These oils are classified as flammable liquids. The oil can damage painted, finished and plastic surfaces as well as stain floors and carpets. The plugin should be kept away from furniture, fabrics, bedding and other materials that might present a fire hazard.

NextScent insect repellent cartridges utilize Citriodiol®, a naturally sourced active ingredient found in many insect repellents worldwide. This plant based active substance is sustainably and ethically sourced and has first-rate efficacy comparable to synthetic active substances, such as DEET. Citriodiol® has been reviewed and exceeded the highest standards, obtaining registration and end-use product approval from regulating agencies around the world, including:
• USA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC)
• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
• National Institute for Occupations Safety and Health (NIOSH)
• United State Department Agriculture (USDA)
• BioPreferred certified European Union (EU)

Performance
The Ventus® family of solutions from NextScent™, utilize multiple air purification technologies including H12 True HEPA filters, negative ionizers and active carbon filters to purify the air by eliminating 99.5% of airborne odors and pollutants like, smoke, pollen, mold, bacteria and viruses.
HEPA is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air [filter]." H12 HEPA Filters are composed of tightly constructed microscopic glass fibers that create a composite paper-like surface that prevents dust and allergens to pass through. They have an overall efficiency of 99.5% and can trap particulate matter down to 0.3 microns in size. Particles that are larger are trapped with even higher efficiency.
Negative ions are oxygen atoms that have gained an electron. These unstable ions seek out particles in the air to restabilize with, effectively neutralizing these particles. These particles include odors, pollutants, dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and viruses.
This process occurs naturally from lightning, ocean surf and waterfalls. Clean, natural air tends to have higher concentrations of negative ions. Higher negative ion concentrations have been shown to improve air quality, lower incidence of depression and suppress the transmission of viruses. Some negative ionizers produce potentially harmful levels of ozone, but the negative ionizers used by NextScent are the safest available and produce zero to only trace amounts.
The Ventus® Go HEPA+ cartridge contains active carbon that has been subjected to a highly controlled steam heating process resulting in active carbon that is full of millions of microscopic holes. One gram of this activated carbon has more internal surface area than the average house. This huge surface area allows for more gas particles to interact with the carbon which traps odors through a natural chemical process.
The Ventus® system utilizes a patent pending dry-evaporative process to safely and effectively diffuse fragrance without flame, heat, messy oils or aerosols. Our fragrances cartridges have a proprietary substrate that is infused with pure fragrance oils developed and tested with our fragrance partners. The substrate retains the fragrance oil and eliminates any leaks. When the substrate is subjected to low vapor pressure, it causes the fragrance molecules to transition from a liquid phase to a gas phase without the need for heat.
Dry-air diffusion is the process of converting liquids into an aerosol by using air pressure to break-up the liquid into micron size particles. The Latus™ systems utilize this technology to create specific size aerosol particles. NextScent™ uses its patent pending nozzle design to optimize the particle size in order to form a dry-atomization that provides the most efficient delivery of fragrance for mid-large areas.
